The United States of America is a federal republic consisting of 50 states, one federal district (Washington, D.C.), and one incorporated territory. States are the primary subdivisions of the United States, and possess a number of powers and rights under the US Constitution; such as regulating intrastate commerce, running elections, creating local governments, and ratifying Constitutional amendments.

Each state has its own government, consisting of an executive branch, a legislative branch, and a judicial branch. They are all represented in the federal Congress, a bicameral legislature consisting of the Senate (the upper house) and the House of Representatives (the lower house). Each state is represented by two Senators, while Representatives are awarded to each state in proportion to their total population.

03 / World War I

World War I began on July 28, 1914, when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Though this war was supposed to be smaller scale, but many causes led this war to the most bloodiest war of that decade. Imperialism, Nationalism, Militarism, and secret alliances all paved way for the war.

The war was mainly fought in Europe, and so the continent split itself to two fronts; the Western and the Eastern Front. The Western front was mainly fought through trench warfare, while the Eastern was mainly fought in cities. Many well known, bloody battles were fought during World War I, and with the mass usage of new and deadlier technologies, the war stirred to not only a longer period, but many more deaths.

WWI finally ended in 1918 with the help of the United States in 1917. It ended with the Treaty of Versailles (treaty built on quicksand), and a huge debt on all of Europe. Not surprisingly, this led to World War II.

World War II started in 1939 for Europe, but 1941 for the United States. Due to the bitter hatred of the Treaty of Versailles, led by their Facist dictator, Germany, Italy, and Japan waged war at the whole world. Germany ignored the Treaty of Versailles, as their leader, Adolf Hitler, annexed both Autria and the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia. Britain and France waged war against Germany when Hitler invaded Poland through the use of Blitzkreig.

This war, unlike World War I, was fought all over the world, since Japan, while US was still neutral, captured all of Southeast Asia with its powerful navy.

In the end, Europe won the war by capturing Berlin, and US won the war by bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki through the A-bomb. A new group, called the United Nations, pleged to stop any future world wars from happening, although this happened, the world set another stage for a war betwee US and USSR.

04 / World War II

A long war between US and USSR, but none of them have directly waged war against one another, or fought battles against themselves. It was also a war between democracy and communism, two different ideals that they wanted to influence other countries to use in their government. Decolonized countries were their primary target, after Europe, that is. NATO and the Warsaw Pact were made to show the difference between democrats and communists. In the end, the war ends with the fall of communism, but not the rise of demorcatic ideals.
